New M Squared headquarters declared officially open

Located on the prestigious West of Scotland Science Park, Glasgow, M Squared Lasers' move to new, larger headquarters was prompted by recent additions to its product lines, and the corresponding growth in sales and number of employees that this produced.

Dr Graeme Malcolm, CEO of M Squared Lasers, commented, "We are very excited to have moved to a new, larger building to accommodate our growth, little over one year after formally launching the company. We attribute this growth to our drive to develop next-generation laser technologies - like our SolsTiS™ and Firefly™ lasers - that provide breakthrough performance for our customers' applications, and also to our focus on applications and markets with large growth opportunities. Our Firefly™ range, for instance, provides class-leading performance for a host of emerging applications, including the remote detection, imaging, and analysis of explosives, drugs, hydrocarbons, bio-agents and air pollutants. Similarly, SolsTiS™ is the smallest laser in its class, and the first laser designed for extremely precise atomic spectroscopy that provides truly turnkey operation. With the successful introductions of these new products, and hiring additional people to staff these product lines, we rapidly outgrew our original space. Our new 4500 sq ft building is newly outfitted, with state-of-the-art R&D and production equipment, and is conveniently located close to our original site, ideal for maintaining continuity with our customers and suppliers. This new site will allow us to expand our design, engineering, manufacturing and product support functions to keep pace with our growing worldwide customer base, which we recently expanded to include China."

Dr Malcolm continued:

"Our strong partnerships with local organizations such as Scottish Enterprise and the University of St Andrews have been key factors in laying solid foundations for our growth, and we are therefore delighted that Stuart Patrick, Director of Operations for Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, attended the formal opening of our new headquarters."
