Business Growth Fund (BGF) today announced its investment of £3.85 million of growth capital in Glasgow based technology business, M Squared Lasers. BGF will take a minority stake in the business and will join the existing board
BGF’s £3.85 million equity investment will fund the company’s research and development programme as well as its commercial growth.

M Squared Lasers is being funded as a key participant in a new pan-European 'FAST-DOT' project to develop next generation laser systems for bio-medical applications. Headed by the University of Dundee, the project comprises a team of 18 European partners that have been granted 10.1m EUR (approx £8m) to develop a new generation of bio-medical lasers.

Dr Graeme Malcolm, Managing Director of M Squared Lasers Ltd, UK said, "With rapidly increasing sales in North America across a variety of product lines and applications, we recognised the need to establish a US facility. This will allow us to provide greater and more immediate sales and service support to our North American customers. We are currently working through the process of incorporating M Squared Lasers in the USA, and we expect to announce the opening of a local facility in San Jose, California in the coming weeks."
